Whenever a user login to the system, Windows automatically loads all the necessary configuration files, driver files and startup programs with the help of Windows Explorer. Windows Explorer is an inbuilt application associated with almost all Windows operating system that works as a resource manager for all the running processes on the system. During the booting process some other files are also loaded silently along with operating system bootable files as you see in the notification area of the system. The programs that are called after booting process are called the startup programs. These startup programs will run in the system background which reduces the task that needs to be performed by the user.

Method 1: Using the control panel:
Step-1: Open control panel and select “System and Security” option of the control panel
Step-2: Select “Administrative tools” from the next displayed option on control panel
Step-3: Select “System Configuration” from the Administrative tools option of control panel
Step-4: Open the Startup options or programs that you want to disable by just deselecting those applications
Step 5: When you finished deselecting the start up programs and click on the OK button that suddenly one popup window is displayed. The pop up windows tells you to restart the system if you want to made changes now otherwise it will take effect whenever you restart the system.
Method 2: Using the run Window:
Step-1: Open the run window of the system and type the command “msconfig.exe” to start the system configuration window directly without going with the control panel.
Step-2: Select the “Start Up” option of the system configuration that allows you to disable some applications or utilities that are not needed always for you.
Step-3: After that you can perform same process as described in the last step of the above mentioned method to take into effect of your changes whatever you made.
Step-4: Open the Startup programs window where you want to disable by deselecting those applications.
